Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru Cuvée Philippe le Bon
Domaine des Hospices de Beaune
Albert Bichot’s view
Attractive lemon-yellow color. Nose of ripe fruit (citrus) and flowers (rose, peony). The palate is equally intense, of a high level, with a fresh finish thanks to a fine acid balance. Very good length, this cuvée is always special.
To the south of the Meursault appellation, the Genévrières cover some 16.5 hectares. The "Dessous" vines make up 75% of this cuvée. The limestone pebbles rest on a fissured bedrock, ideal for water storage and root development. The resulting wine is often powerful and refined, with a silky texture and good body, both of which suggest good ageing potential.

Vinification and aging
This Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru Cuvée Philippe le Bon has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.
The Domaine des Hospices de Beaune has been certified organic since the 2024 harvest, and we naturally age your wine in our Albert Bichot cellars in line with this environmentally-friendly philosophy.
The Cuvée pays tribute to Philippe le Bon (1419-1467), Duke of Burgundy, who lent his support when Nicolas Rolin, his Chancellor, decided to build the Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune in 1443. The Cuvée is one of the finest of the great whites, with a power and elegance that are repeated year after year. Half of the Genevrières Dessous parcel was planted in 1978, the rest in 2001, while the Genevrièvres Dessus parcel dates from 2009.
