Echezeaux Grand Cru Cuvée Jean-Luc Bissey

Domaine des Hospices de Beaune

Albert Bichot’s view

The color already shows the immense density of this wine, with a bouquet of raspberry and blueberry on the nose. The palate is tasty and full-bodied, with a high level of density that doesn't mask the wine's elegant structure, and an exceptionally long finish.

Food pairings

Osso bucco, Basque chicken, cassoulet, butcher's cut

Located in the Echezeaux du Dessus area, the plot is mid-slope with a slight slope towards the Rouges du Bas. The soil is rich in clay and rests on a fairly flush, very chalky subsoil. The result is a solid, well-structured, harmonious wine. The tannins are elegant and very often promise excellent ageing potential.

Vinification and aging

This Echezeaux Grand Cru Cuvée Jean-Luc Bissey has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.

Le Domaine des Hospices de Beaune est certifié bio depuis la récolte 2024 et bien entendu nous élevons dans nos caves Albert Bichot ce vin en respectant cette philosophie respectueuse de l’environnement.

History of the cuvée

This vineyard was donated in 2011 by Mr. Jean-Luc Bissey, a winegrower for four generations. The vines are located in "Les Echézeaux du Dessus", where the hillside slopes slightly towards "Les Rouges du Bas". They have been planted since 1945. In 2012, Echézeaux became the third Côte de Nuits Grand Cru whose wines are offered for sale by the Hospices, after Mazis-Chambertin since 1976 and Clos de la Roche since 1991.
