Pommard 1er Cru Cuvée Dames de la Charité

Domaine des Hospices de Beaune

Albert Bichot’s view

Attractive dark red color. Fresh, fruity nose of red fruits and berries. On the palate, more black fruit, with a hint of cherry. A dense, masculine wine with great depth and complexity.

Food pairings

The intensity of this Pommard 1er Cru Dames de la Charité is perfect with coq au vin, boeuf bourguignon or prime rib.

The south-facing Epenots contribute their finesse to the cuvée. La Refène, with its limestone-rich soils, sublimates the wine and prunes it for excellent ageing. It's undoubtedly the Rugiens Hauts, with its deep, chalky, stony marls, that energize this wine and provide the tension on the finish.

Vinification and aging

This Pommard 1er Cru Cuvée Dames de la Charité has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.

Le Domaine des Hospices de Beaune est certifié bio depuis la récolte 2024 et bien entendu nous élevons dans nos caves Albert Bichot ce vin en respectant cette philosophie respectueuse de l’environnement.

History of the cuvée

This is a tribute to the Sisters of Charity, who cared for the "poor and sick" and often bequeathed their possessions to the Hospices. Pommards' most prestigious cuvée, since the 2005 vintage it has been made entirely from Premier Cru grapes.
