Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru Cuvée Baudot

Domaine des Hospices de Beaune

Albert Bichot’s view

Beautiful soft yellow color, aromatic bouquet of ripe fruit (pear), almond and dried fruit. Chiseled palate typical of this great Genevrières terroir. Sustained by a beautiful richness and persistence of fruit.

Food pairings

Salmon maki, shrimp curry, Beaufort or blue-veined cheese.

Located in the south of the appellation, the Genévrières climat extends over some 16.5 hectares. This cuvée is made in equal parts from "Genévrières du Dessus" and "du Dessous", where each expresses itself to the full: the shallow, homogeneous clay-limestone soil of "du Dessous" gives the vines just the right amount of vigor, while the very stony, iron-rich clays of "du Dessus" guarantee voluptuous, elegant, racy wines. This is one of the earliest vintages, combining freshness and complexity.

Vinification and aging

This Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru Cuvée Baudot has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.

The Domaine des Hospices de Beaune has been certified organic since the 2024 harvest, and we naturally age your wine in our Albert Bichot cellars in line with this environmentally-friendly philosophy.

History of the cuvée

Félix Baudot, born in 1796, was a great collector of paintings, stained glass and antique steles. His collection was sold at auction in Beaune in 1882, with the proceeds going to the Hospice de la Charité. The Cuvée comes equally from the Genevrières below and above. The vines are perfectly mature or old. The youngest, representing 23% of the Cuvée, date from 1979, the others from 1944, 1948, 1956 and 1964.
