Santenay Cuvée Christine Friedberg

Domaine des Hospices de Beaune

Albert Bichot’s view

Intense, brilliant red. Very crisp nose with hints of cherry, raspberry and blackberry. Supple and generous on the palate. Always a charming wine!

Food pairings

Brioche sausage, vegetable and curry quiche, lamb tagine, herb roast pork.

Terroir more clay than limestone, planted here with Pinot Noir but which also has the particularity of allowing Chardonnay to express itself well. The cuvée reveals an intense attack, balanced between mineral freshness and depth. On gently sloping soil, the vines express themselves without blushing in comparison with the surrounding Premier Crus.

History of the cuvée

In April 2010, William D. Friedberg (an American importer with a passion for Burgundy, who bought over 20 years' worth of wines at Hospices auctions) donated a 60-acre parcel of Pinot Noir AOC Santenay to the Hospices in memory of his late wife, Christine, who was also a great lover of Burgundy. The production from this parcel of Santenay, which now enriches the Hospices' winegrowing heritage, was auctioned for the first time in 2010.
