Corton Vergennes Grand Cru Cuvée Paul Chanson

Domaine des Hospices de Beaune

Albert Bichot’s view

Beautiful yellow color, with a concentrated nose of ripe apples, pear and flowers. A massive wine, with great volume on the palate and a persistent finish. A wine that will age magnificently to reveal its full potential.

Food pairings

The nobility of this wine makes it a perfect match for scallop carpaccio, sushi or sea bass a la plancha.

This Grand Cru is located on a knoll on the Corton hillside, mid-slope in the extension of Corton Bressandes. Facing east, the soil is stony and marly. The wine stands out for its precision, finesse and long ageing potential.

Vinification and aging

This Corton Vergennes Grand Cru Cuvée Paul Chanson has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.

Le Domaine des Hospices de Beaune est certifié bio depuis la récolte 2024 et bien entendu nous élevons dans nos caves Albert Bichot ce vin en respectant cette philosophie respectueuse de l’environnement.

History of the cuvée

A great ambassador for the wines of France, and Burgundy in particular, Paul Chanson bequeathed some old vines to the Hospices in 1974. He used to say that the grapes were Pinot Blanc, rather than Chardonnay. The vines are located on a small hill adjoining Corton-Bressandes, on land mostly planted with Pinot Noir. They produce fascinating wines, often developing a quince-like aroma. 30% of the vines date from 1987, the rest from the 1940s.
