Meursault Charmes 1er Cru Cuvée Albert Grivault

Domaine des Hospices de Beaune

Albert Bichot’s view

Intense, luminous yellow. Pleasant bouquet of citrus fruit and white flowers (honeysuckle). Great energy on the palate. A harmonious wine with great potential.

Food pairings

Spiced monkfish skewer, lobster bisque, oysters au gratin.

"Les Charmes" is one of Meursault's most prestigious climats. In addition to being the most extensive of the 1ers crus, at around 31 hectares, it lends a strong identity to the wines made from it. The vines from which this cuvée is made are located entirely in the "Charmes du Dessus" area, on limestone marl with an easterly exposure. The wines are full-bodied, with soft aromatic notes and a solid structure.

Vinification and aging

This Meursault Charmes 1er Cru Cuvée Albert Grivault has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.

Le Domaine des Hospices de Beaune est certifié bio depuis la récolte 2024 et bien entendu nous élevons dans nos caves Albert Bichot ce vin en respectant cette philosophie respectueuse de l’environnement.

History of the cuvée

In 1904, Monsieur and Madame Grivault donated to the Hospices some superbly placed vines in Les Charmes Dessus on poor, stony soils. 38% of the vines date back to 1958, while 30% were planted in 1985 and 32% in 1997.
