THE 2025 STYLE: INTENSE, EXPRESSIVE & DELICATE
Together, these three dimensions give the 2025 vintage its unique identity, defining an objectively superior year, in white as in red, with no need for comparison. At once atypical and full of promise, 2025 already stands as a vintage apart.
INTENSE. Moderate yields — a hallmark of the Hospices de Beaune estate — were accentuated by a contrasting climatic rhythm (disrupted flowering and heat spikes), producing small berries concentrated in flavor and structure.
EXPRESSIVE. Beautiful extractions, generous textures, and remarkable aromatic purity, with solar intensity that never overwhelms the wines’ natural balance.
DELICATE. Marked by freshness and immediate appeal, with moderate alcohol levels thanks to the cooler weather from mid-August onward. The result is a set of wines with quintessential Burgundian balance — refined, pure, and classic.
IN THE VINEYARD — A 2025 VINTAGE BOTH EARLY, EASY, AND COMPLEX
The 2025 vintage once again stands among the early years. White grapes were harvested from August 22 in Meursault, followed the next week by the rest of the Côte de Beaune (with Corton leading the way on August 25), before an unprecedented pause due to rain, and a resumption on September 5 in the Côte de Nuits. A true logistical puzzle, requiring each parcel to be picked at its optimal ripeness.
In the vineyard, the year unfolded calmly and harmoniously. After a cold, wet winter, alternating periods of sun and rain — at times intense in both directions — encouraged steady growth. The vines enjoyed good water reserves and excellent sanitary conditions throughout the season.
Yet 2025 also proved complex, with uneven ripening evident from fruit set and a somewhat erratic flowering, leading to a longer harvest than usual and requiring parcel-by-parcel decisions to achieve perfect balance in every cluster.

Interview #1 - 6 September 2025 : Hospices winemaker Ludivine Griveau talks about the growing conditions and harvest report
// 6 September 2025 ///
2025 is (again) an early vintage, very early indeed. Harvesting in Burgundy began as early as mid-August for some winegrowers, thanks to a heatwave in the first fortnight of August that speeded things up. Due to a complicated flowering, with humidity and wind, a harvest with yields that were not excessive was to be expected, and that's what happened! The bunches, often smaller but in perfect health (a relief after the complicated year of 2024!), offer great potential.
Harvesting at Domaine des Hospices de Beaune began on August 22, targeting Chardonnays first, in the Meursault and Bâtard-Montrachet sectors, before extending to Côte de Beaune Pinot Noirs shortly afterwards (Beaune, Volnay, Pommmard). A deliberate pause in harvesting took place immediately afterwards, to allow the less ripe plots to reach optimum maturity - a strategy that testifies to the priority given to quality over quantity. The harvest ended on September 7 with the prestigious Côte de Nuits parcels, including the new Clos de Vougeot donation. Fermentation is now underway, and promises to be a very fine vintage!
