Corton Grand Cru Cuvée Charlotte Dumay

Domaine des Hospices de Beaune

Albert Bichot’s view

Red color with garnet highlights. Complex on the nose and palate, with a fleshy, pretty cocktail of fruit (wild strawberry) and spices, slightly peppery. The finish is lively, taut and fresh.

Food pairings

Simmered meats (navarin lamb), barbecued meats, local cheeses (Epoisses)

This cuvée is made from 100% of one of the most prestigious climates on the Corton hillside: Les Bressandes. Facing east, the airy, stony soils of Les Bressandes contribute to the delicacy of a consistent, well-balanced mid-palate, with silky tannins. All in all, this is a Pinot Noir that can be enjoyed young if you like an assertive texture, but which will seduce with its density after 5 years and well beyond.

  • Region: Côte de Beaune
  • Village: Aloxe-Corton
  • Level: Grand Cru
  • Appellation: Corton Grand Cru
  • Varietal: Pinot Noir
  • Plots: Corton-Bressandes

Vinification and aging

This Corton Grand Cru Les Bressandes Cuvée Charlotte Dumay has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.

The Domaine des Hospices de Beaune has been certified organic since the 2024 harvest, and we naturally age your wine in our Albert Bichot cellars in line with this environmentally-friendly philosophy.

History of the cuvée

In 1534, "for the remedy and salvation of her soul", Charlotte Dumay, the descendantless wife of the Garde pour le Roi in his Dijon mint, gave the Hospices 100 ouvrées of vineyard and fallow land on the Aloxe estate, as well as a stone house. This Cuvée des Hospices is one of the longest-lived. It is one of the Domaine's most sumptuously structured wines. Historically, this cuvée was a blend of Corton-Renardes (2/3) and Corton-Bressandes (1/3). Starting with the 2022 vintage, this cuvée is sold as 100% Les Bressandes.
