Bright, intense color. Complex nose with a blend of red and black fruits, hints of mint and liquorice. Subtle yet powerful on the palate, showing the inner strength of this grand cru. Impressive ageing potential.
Grand cru located to the north of the Morey St Denis commune, close to Gevrey Chambertin. The parcel faces east and lies on a gently sloping mid-slope where shallow limestone rock outcrops. This area, known as Froichots, dries out very quickly and ripens early, all of which helps to produce a long-keeping wine with a dense, refined tannic richness. The finish is often energetic and highly perfumed. This racy, great wine often displays graphite notes in its youth. It has great ageing potential.

Vinification and aging
This Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Georges Kritter has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.
The Domaine des Hospices de Beaune has been certified organic since the 2024 harvest, and we naturally age your wine in our Albert Bichot cellars in line with this environmentally-friendly philosophy.
Georges Kritter was André Boisseaux's cousin and childhood friend. They worked together for 40 years at the head of a négociant-éléveur in Beaune. For several decades, André Boisseaux regularly bought the first lot in the Hospices wine sale. In 1991, a bequest from Georges Kritter's widow enabled the Hospices to acquire Clos de la Roche vines and create a 2nd cuvée in this legendary appellation, which now bears the name of its generous donor.
