Results for Hospices de Beaune 2024: sales reach M€13,9 and Albert Bichot remains the #1 buyer

The full results of the 164th Hospices de Beaune wine auction, the 4th best edition in history

First year of organic certification, a complex vintage 2024 in the vineyard resulting in a modest but handsomely produced harvest, the 2024 vintage at Domaine des Hospices de Beaune was from its very first steps a truly singular vintage.

The proof again with the results of the 2024 auction. In all, the 321 barrels of red wine and 177 barrels + 3 feuillettes (half barrels) of white wine still achieved great results. Total sales for the 439.5 barrels amounted to M€ 13.9 million, down from vintage 2023. Nonetheless, Hospices 2024 sale represents the 4th best sale in the Domaine's history. In detail:
• The average barrel price this year was €31,647, up 2.53% on 2023
• red wines are down by 5.4% and white wines are up 8%.

Albéric Bichot comments: "This was a very strange sale, which kept us on our toes right to the end. The event's supporters were present, and most of the red cuvées returned to 2022 prices. As for the whites, they drove the prices up and brought in almost half the sale”.

For more than 30 years, our house Albert Bichot has distinguished itself as the 1st buyer. This was once again the case this year, with the purchase of 85.5 barrels for M€ 4.4, representing 32% of the total sale value and 19% by volume.

According to Albéric Bichot: “We're very happy for the hospital, and pleased to have bought so many cuvées, from all terroirs and all appellation levels, and once again all the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (3.5 pieces this year)”.

An auction within an auction, a highlight of generosity, the Pièce des Présidents 2024, a very fine cuvée de Beaune 1er Cru Les Bresssandes, was sold for 360 000 €. The 2 charities supported (Global Gift Foundation, represented by Eva Longoria and Jean Reno, and Médecins Sans Frontières, represented by Dominic West and Zabou Breitman) will share this substantial sum to carry out their projects.
