If you plan to buy a full barrel (288 bottles) at the Hospices auction, you have 50 wines available. In other words the full range of wines (33 reds and 17 whites) from the Hospices de Beaune estate can be yours.
Our mission is to help you chose the right wine from you within this range, depending on your personal palate, your budget and what you have in mind (for instance a wine to enjoy soon or to keep for decades in your cellar.
If most people buy a full barrel (288 bottles) on their own or sharing it with friends and family, Albert Bichot also offers the possibility to buy smaller quantities with the same level of service and expertise from the #1 buyer for 20 years?
• Option 1: you only plan to buy a few bottles or cases : go to this page to chose from our selection of 3 reds and 2 whites, from just 1 bottle!
Option 2: you want to buy half a barrel (144 bottles) or a 1/4 of a barrel (72 bottles). In this frequent case, we will match you with some other buyers (that you don’t necessarily know) with a similar and compatible auction plan. We do this every year! It will still be totally possible to customise your Hospices label with your name as a buyer or convert your 75 cl bottles in magnums or jeroboams. Click below and Jean-David Camus will be in touch shortly.
Considering the value of the wines and the fact that all money goes to a charity, Albert Bichot asks all its customers a 50% deposit to be paid before the auction. This will be refunded if the hammer price goes above the limit defined together in your custom auction plan.
Otherwise if everything goes fines (as it most often does!), we keep the deposit and you’ll pay the remaining 50% (adjusted to the real hammer price of course) in June following the auction.
Our final price includes everything: hammer price at the auction + auctioneer’s fees + price of the barrel + expert ageing in our cellars for 12 to 18 months + 75 cl bottles with the official Hospices label and your name as buyer. It even includes the possibility to come and taste your wine in barrel during ageing for an outstanding experience at the heart of Albert Bichot’s know how.
The cost of shipping is extra but you can always come and pick up your wines at Albert Bichot’s cellars in Beaune yourself if you wish to save on shipping costs. We can ship in most countries, please contact us if you have any doubt.
Options : several custom labels and conversion of your 75 cl bottles in magnums or jeroboams
After the auction, we will communicate very quickly the results obtained at the auction for your purchase. If the bidding at auction exceeds the ceiling price agreed with Albert Bichot, your order is cancelled and your deposit will be refunded within a few days.
We may be able to offer you the option of using the deposit for the non-acquired wine to purchase a different wine, depending on availabilities and your wishes.
Before the Hospices auction, we will agree the maximum hammer price for each wine. If the final price is lower, we will reflect this in a reduction according to our price-list. In other words, you will know the maximum price in advance, but the final price may be lower!
Thanks to Albert Bichot and www.hospices-beaune.com, each buyer can have his or her name added to the Hospices label. This is a great way to celebrate a special year or to offer your friends or good customers a personalised gift!
It is even possible to have for a small extra cost several sets of custom labels.
You can convert the Hospices wine ordered. The minimum order is 48 x 75 cl bottles converted into 24 magnums or 12 jeroboams. Fixed price: an additional cost of 2 Euros excl. VAT per magnum and 25 Euros excl. VAT per jeroboam. The magnums of Hospices wines are shipped in a 3-bottle wooden case. The jeroboams of Hospices wines are shipped in an individual wooden case.
The Hospices de Beaune wine are sold ‘en primeur’ and are shipped around 18 months after the auction, in September N+2 in relation to the vintage.
For example, the 2021 vintage from Hospices de Beaune or Hospice de Nuits-Saint-Georges wines will be shipped in September 2023.
In our online store we offer a selection of old vintages of the Hospices wines. These wines were acquired by Albert Bichot at previous auctions (let’s not forget that we have been the top buyer for 20 years!) and stored in our cellars. They are available for immediate purchase.
First of all, we offer you an exclusive range of several Albert Bichot wines, which can be purchased ‘en primeur’. These wines are only available on our online store
