A mosaic of terroirs make up this cuvée. While Taille-Pieds brings airy notes, it's Carelle and Caillerets that are key to the refined, classy texture of the mid-palate. Finally, the Clos and Frémiets give this cuvée elegance and great ageing potential.

Vinification and aging
This Volnay 1er Cru Cuvée Muteau has been skilfully vinified by the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune. Sold every year at the Hospices auction on the 3rd Sunday in November, Albert Bichot regularly buys this great wine on behalf of clients who then entrust us with its ageing in our cellars. During this important period, thanks to meticulous work and the blending of a variety of barrels, we further develop its complexity and potential.
The Domaine des Hospices de Beaune has been certified organic since the 2024 harvest, and we naturally age your wine in our Albert Bichot cellars in line with this environmentally-friendly philosophy.
A former student at the Cadre Noir de Saumur, Cavalry Officer promoted to General in 1914, Staff Officer to General Foch during the First World War, Grand-Croix de la Légion d'Honneur, Paul-Jules Muteau (1856-1927) left in 1926, in addition to fine works of art in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, a major donation to the Hôtel-Dieu, including the Laborde-au-Château estate. The Cuvée is made up of five of the finest Volnay Premier Crus.
