Albert Bichot has been the number one buyer at the Hospices de Beaune auction for the last 20 years, with an average of 100 barrels (pièces) and 30 different wines (cuvées). How to explain this admirable position?

Common values : solidarity and humanity

To be the #1 buyer comes first from a true share of solidarity values between our house and the Hospices institution. Nothing surprising when one knows that Alberic Bichot himself was born in Hôtel-Dieu! He really knows how to share his generosity around him : several customers have bought (in 2004, 2008 and 2012) the Charity Barrel to the benefit of associations. This is the Burgundy spirit and the Albert Bichot spirit.

Beaune's Hôtel-Dieu

150 years of experience

Albert Bichot bids at the auction since 1876. We have developed a real expertise in the three key steps : selection of the wines, bidding at the best price, top-level ageing in our cellars, ensuring the trust of demanding customers and wine-lovers from all over the world. Consequently, we have been the number one buyer for almost the last 20 years.

“Trois glorieuses” days : a week-end of celebration

The auction is one of the three highlights of a famous and long week-end called “les Trois Glorieuses” (the Three Days of Glory), along with the Chapter of Chevaliers du Tastevin brotherhood and Paulée de Meursault. During the Hospices de Beaune week-end, every third Sunday in November, a big party atmosphere can be felt in the medieval streets of Beaune, the capital city of Burgundy wines. Parades, tastings, concerts…so many opportunities to spend a good time for Beaune inhabitants or people from all over the world that have gathered here. Albert Bichot also organises some private, invitation-only, events with customers who want to celebrate this very special time with us.

Sharing and innovation : the purpose of this website created by Albert Bichot

In 2009, Albert Bichot changed the game and introduced with a major innovation for the Hospices auction. We allow everybody to take part to the auction, with a minimum purchase of only one bottle. We also offer the opportunity to buy a full barrel (288 bottles) from the 48 wines available.
